½ cup (10-12) puffed lotus seeds (makhanas)

1 tsp ghee for roasting

½ cup milk

1 tsp sugar

Pinch of cardamom powder (optional)
How to make Makhana Kheer

Heat 1 tsp ghee in a kadhai. Add makhanas.

Roast the makhanas on low flame for 3-4 minutes till the makhanas are crisp.

Crush into a powder using a grinder/food processor.

Put the ground makhana powder in a pan.

Add ½ cup milk and boil the milk on low flame for 6-7 minutes while stirring constantly till the mixture has thickened.

Add sugar and cardamom powder (optional) serve warm.
Makhana Kheer Tips:
If you wish to loosen up the consistency to suit your baby, you may add spoons of hot water before taking the kheer off the flame.
